A casual wear worn lower part of the body. which is ideally covered till knee or above knee level based on individual requirement. it is one of the best comfortable garment to wear on any time and any activity like walking, running, climbing etc. it will keep wearer warm and comfortable. You can create a classy look by wearing a shorts made on good fabric and pairing up with good top/upper wear.

Measurements Required:


Full Length

Waist

Hip

Thigh

Hip Length [waist – Hip]

Inseam [Inside leg]


Pattern Steps:

Draw a straight line across top of Brown paper. Label point 1 as shown.

1-2 = outseam + 7” less waistband (- 3″).

1-3 = Full length – Inseam Length

1-4 = Hip Length.

Square out across paper from all points.

4-5 = ¼ of the hip measurement + 1″.

4-6 = ¼ of the hip measurement + 1″ .

Draw line Upwards from 5 and 6 to mark 7 and 8 at the intersection.

5-9 = 1/20 of Hip Circumference.

6-10 = 1/10 of Hip Circumference.

Draw a line downwards from 9 to mark 11 and 12 at Intersection.

Join 5 to 12 by curve line, as shown in draft Diagram.

Draw a line downwards from 10 to mark 13 and 14 at intersection.

14-15 = ¾”

Draw a gentle curve from 6 to 15, as shown.

16 &17 = Mark by dividing the distance between 1 and 8 into 3 equal parts.

Draw Dart line downwards of 4" length and mark 1/2" on either side of dart 16&17 and complete dart according to draft diagram.


Back Pocket

0-1 = 2 ⅜”.

1 – 2 = 2 ⅜”.

2-3 = 5” Draw line across 5” and mark 4 and Draw line up and mark 5 at intersection.


Front pocket

1-2 = 2″.

2-3 = 1”.

3-4 = 2 ⅜”.

1-5 = 5 ½”.

5-6 = 1”.

Draw a straight line parallel to line 2-5 from 3-6.

Square down 10” from 4 to locate 7, draw line across to side seam and mark 8


Waistband

Draw a straight line.

1-2 = waist measurement.

2-3 = 6”.

Squaring 4 from 1 = 6”.

4-5 = 2”.

1-6 = 2”.

7 = ½ of line 5-6.

8 = ½ of line 2-3.

Join 7 and 8 with a straight line (foldline).

Grainline can be width or length-wise in direction.


Pocket Bag

Trace front leg points 1-5-6-8-7-4-3-2-1.

Trace front leg points 2-5-6-8-7-4-3-2.


Pocket Facing

Trace front leg points 1-5-6-3-2-1.


Patch Pocket

Trace pocket from back.

Add a 1” turning above line 2-5 for opening.


Fly & Fly Facing

Follow as per draft.


Some Points to Consider:


Ø Fabric Required 44” width 1.5mtrs, if its 58’’ width 1mtrs.

Ø First straighten the fabric by slightly stretching it diagonally to align the warp & weft.

Ø Iron the fabric always to remove crease, prior to marking and place draft.

Ø If you are a beginner, prefer making the Paper draft and then pin it to fabric.

Secure the all side edges by overlock stitch using matching threads.

- Iron all the four parts by folding vertically at center.

start front by making side pockets, take the pocketing fabric attach pocket facing on right surface of pocketing. attach other side of pocketing to front part and fold at notch on front part diagonally, and run edge or pointed stitch. after this, turn the pocket bag outside and finish edge by folding 1/4" inside turn and run top pointed stitch to cover the raw edges inside pockets. now run dummy stitch on top of the front part by matching the pocket fold and pocket facing mark. by doing this front part is ready with pockets. follow the same procedure to other front part.

-complete the back dart.

-Make back pocket. By keeping ready patter paper iron the edges by folding and then place it on back part at a distance of 2.5" from side seam and stitch all the three sides.

-join side of left side front and left back. right side front and right side back.

-Prepare Fly to attach zip.[keep two layer of fly stitch and all the thee sides and turn it up, and press it neatly]

-keep zip open on wrong side upon the right side front part and place fly on top of the zip and stitch at 1/4" distance. Turn and run edge stitch on top of the joint.

-Take another fly and attach on top of the left side front crotch line. now attach other side of zip to this fly by facing wrong side of the zip on top. turn it inside and run 'J' stitch on left side front part on top surface.

- join inside seam.

-Join the crotchline together.[ to perform crotch line stitch, turn one leg part and insert it inside to other leg part. after inserting you will get the crotch line together which will help to finish the join neatly. after this crotch stitch take out the leg part which inserted. now you can see the trouser finished attaching all the parts together except waistband].

-Prepare waistband and attach to body.[ cut canvas belt by measuring waist of both leg parts fuse it to wrong surface of the fabric and fix hook on right side waistband front, eye at left side waistband front. attach belt loops by distributing equally as per diagram. and stitch this along with another pcs of fabric on top and sides, turn it and attach this to body by stitching on right side surface of trouser body.

-Fold the edge of the waistband fabric. insert the belt attached seam inside and run a stitch from top surface of the trouser.

-Finish Hem line by folding it inside by 3.0".after finishing hem turn it to half of the hem length and lock it on both sides. its holds the roll up hem firmly. This completes the trouser.

-Press crotch line properly by spreading out seams with the help of ironing pillow.

-Press sides seam and hemline. use steam iron for better finish.
