Basic Bodice Block:
It’s also call the foundation for pattern making.
A block pattern is a foundation pattern made to fit a standard measurement.
Designer uses a foundation pattern (block) as a basis for making required design.
Can introduce style lines, tucks, gathers, pleats or drapes but still the basic fit of the pattern will conform to the block used.
The blocks include the basic amount of ease required for the function of the block.
Block patterns – individual figures The basic blocks can be drafted to fit individual figures by using personal measurements instead of the standard ones.
Measurements Required

1- Length
2 - Shoulder
3 - Chest
4 - Waist
5 - Bust Point
6 - Bust Distance
Drafting Steps

FRONT PART
1-2 = Full Length.
1-3 = Arm Depth, 1/6th Bust + 1” Draw a Line across.
2-4 = Natural waist + ¾” Ease + 1” for Dart. Draw a Line across
1-5 = 1/6 of Neck Round Measurement + ½”.
1-6 = ½ of Shoulder Measurement.
3-7 = same measurement of 1-6 and Draw a line upwards joining point 6.
3-8 = ¼ Bust measurement + ¾ “.
1-10 = 1/6 of Neck Round Measurement + ½”.
5-11 = Same measurement of 1-10 and draw line upwards by joining 10
11-12 = 1 ¼ at 45^ angle, draw a neckline curve by joining points 5-12-10.
13 = Midpoint of 6-7
13-14 = ½ “inward to draw arm hole curve line.
15 = 1” above from 7.
2-A = ½ Bust Distance draw a line upwards by joining line [3-8]
0 = Mark Apex measurement from shoulder.
1 & 2 = Mark ½” on either side of ‘A’. and join 1&0 &2.
BACK PART
Trace Front Block and follow below steps
1-21 = 1 ¼ “back Neck drop.
1-22 = Save as front 1 to 10 measurement.
21-23 = Same Measurement of 1-22
9-8 = Draw an outward armhole curve line as shown in draft.
